Sometimes the coolest things happen. This senior session was amazing on so many levels - first of all, I met this great guy a few years ago when I did senior portraits for his brother. He's a senior and one of those guys with a plan and a personality and everything, I love it. It was such a pleasure to get to spend a couple of days hanging around with him.
Why a couple of days? Because his mom put together an AMAZING couple of locations for us to go do pictures! Let's start with the highlight (for me anyway) - horses at the Stables at Tamaya Resort. SO FUN. He is a country kind of guy who rides often - and I have been wanting to do a horse session forever, heaven.
I loved everything about this: taking pictures of this inspiring guy, with beautiful horses, in front of the mountains. Amazing.
We were told that this horse was a real performer. I agree - matching grins!
The people at the Stables were so nice! And they have more than 100 beautiful horses! (I think the Christisons need to plan a family trail ride!) Thank you so much to them for so generously sharing their time and horses with us.
But that was not all! Through some good connections, his mom also got an invitation for us to do photography at Los Poblanos Inn and Farm. What a gorgeous setting! I'd never been there before but I will definitely be looking for more opportunities.
I loved the farm area, and I didn't realize this but they have a farm shop so I can go back and browse around and enjoy the atmosphere later on.
The landscaping is gorgeous, and there are all these wonderful patios and architecture too. Perfect for senior photography - or weddings, which I'm guessing is a lot more common there.
And, you might think those two amazing locations would have been enough, but one of my favorite things about senior portraits is incorporating hobbies and interests, and it would have been a little tricky to do that on location.
So we did a few studio portraits as well, so we could include skis...
and he is a champion bowler, how cool is that?
So many amazing pictures. (You might think I'm not holding back here, but I am actually showing a lot of restraint in how many images I post.) Thanks so much to this senior and his mom - it was a huge pleasure all around! Best wishes to you as you move on!
If you are interested in senior portraits, I'd love to chat with you and discuss it. We can meet in person or talk on the phone, or you can email me. I also have more information about my senior portraits on my website.

Beautiful springtime senior portraits
This year I didn't do a lot with the spring flowers - some years I manage to do a lot of photography with them, but this year I did do one really especially beautiful session, and it was with this gorgeous senior. It is spring in Albuquerque, so you know it was windy, but she was amazing and put up with the wind really well. And sometimes - the gusts were awesome.
I think some parts of the gardens were maybe the most beautiful I've ever seen there.
There's so much to love at the gardens. And I really enjoyed getting to meet this girl also - she is an athlete and she has a plan for the future (I love that, I'm a planner). She is thinking about doing OT, which I think is a great idea.
Best wishes and thank you so much! I hope the rest of your senior year is fabulous!

Old Town senior portraits
It's spring time! My favorite time of year. (Except for the wind, but I guess you can't have everything.) And one of the best parts of spring is senior portraits! This beautiful girl and I spent a delightful afternoon in Old Town. She was such a pleasure to work with. She is very artistic and knew just where we should go - some of my favorite places and she had a couple of locations that I'd never used.
I always try to get at least one good serious portrait. She is so happy and fun that it was not easy for her to stop smiling, but how awesome is this image? She and her mom loved it too.
Old Town is one of my favorite locations to use because it's good any time of day - here in the land of full sun all the time, that can be tricky.
I love all the bright colors, especially that southwestern turquoise!
I always like to find out where seniors are headed next - she is going to school and has already tested out of the entry-level art classes, so she'll be starting in such a good place.
She thinks she might someday like to have an art gallery of her own... hey, we're right outside an art gallery in this picture! :) Who knows, maybe someday she'll be located in Old Town all the time.
Thanks so much - it was really great to meet you! Best best wishes as you go forward.
