Vintage styled children's photography

A few years ago I did some antique-style portraits for children. I loved them but haven't done too much with these since then, except one really darling little boy. This winter a local mom asked me about antique portraits, and I was thrilled to get all my props back out again.

So, this little girl was hilarious. She started out a little shy, which is very normal by the way. She was not too into the tea party, until...

she realized that the little bunny we were trying to get her to hold would be much funnier to push off her lap. It worked like a charm - funny every time!

The bunny was up on the chair... for now!

She also loved the book of children's poetry. So many fun pictures.

Look out, bunny. Ha!

What a huge pleasure it was to get to play with this darling little girl one morning. I absolutely love it when children start out shy and uncertain but end up in peals of laughter.

If you like the vintage look and are interested in doing this with your children or family, give me a call! I'd love to set up a session. These pictures were done inside, but also I think we could also set up a really neat theme outdoors when it gets nice out again. (I can't wait!)

If you like the idea of a creative theme, but the vintage style is not your thing, I have other creative photography ideas posted here - look through and see if you feel inspired to do something creative with your children! I'd love to work with you.

Vintage baby portraits

I loved this session - this little boy was absolutely darling.  He came for some antique portraits, to match antique portraits that his older sister and brother also got when they were his age.  He was a tiny bit shy at the beginning, but not for long!  Before long it was some of the best smiles I think I've seen in a long time.

His family loves baseball.  I LOVE this picture!

And I love the hat too.  I have some cute antique looking cars that I'm always happy to have a reason to use - fun!

We did a few outside too, with my "rustic" fence (some might call it more of a falling-down fence).  It was hot out!  But it worked too.  I ended up with so many sweet smiles that it was just silly - it was hard to narrow it down to what to show his mom!  I hope she loves them - I know I do.

I wanted to make sure I used the same antique sepia tones, so I found the pictures I did for his sister a couple of years ago.  She is a gorgeous girl now & these 1 year old portraits were just beautiful.

If you like the vintage look and are interested in doing this with your children or family, give me a call! I'd love to set up a session. These pictures were (mostly) inside, but I think we could also set up a really neat theme outdoors as well.

I have a bunch more baby photography, along with some info on my baby plan options, on this blog page - check it out!

I offer four different options for baby photography collections. If you are interested for yourself, or if you have a friend or family member you might like to gift a collection to, I have an online magazine with more information that you might like to see. You can send me your email address below and I will email you a link right away.

I love doing baby studio sessions, but for lots of other session locations, see this blog page here.

More antique children's portraits

Some more antique portraits. I am loving these!

These two are some of the most beautiful children I know. They really got into the tea party setup - it was fun to watch. When we tried to bring one of them out of the background so we could get individual pictures, it was not fun without the tea set! Luckily the toy airplane and firetruck were also fun. :) This session was also full of such great expressions - it made it hard to narrow down my proofs (and I ended up with definitely more than I'd planned, something I'm trying to work on...) Thanks so much for coming - I love these & it was so great to see you again!

Antique portraits, darling little boy

I can't believe this is my second post in one day. I've been doing a ton of sessions & just cruised through a couple of them today. I still have 3 more to go, so if you're waiting.... I'm working on it! :)

This little guy could NOT have been cuter. He came, he played, he was so funny & cute, and in about 15 minutes I got way too many great shots. (Sorry, I know that can make it hard!) There are so many that I love from this session that I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite, but it might be the balloon-spike (below). We had finished & he was playing with balloons - good thing I kept shooting.

Thanks so much for bringing me your darling little boy! It was so nice to meet you all!

Antique baby portraits

This little girl is one of the most beautiful babies I know. She has big eyes, the most gorgeous curls, and she likes to wear bows on her head (neither of my girls can keep them on for a second so I'm jealous of this). And she has a darling personality too, she's got it all! I was so happy to take these (and many more) pictures of her. Thanks for coming!

Old fashioned antique portraits - portrait party & special!

I was asked to do some antique portraits for one of the most beautiful babies I know - her pictures are coming in the next day or so :) - and I loved the set-up so much that I did a few with my "models" also. These are SO much fun! I found some antique toy props for boys also, so this is for little boys or girls. It's not a huge set, but we could do small groups of children also. If you're interested in booking an antique session, give me a call or email. I will do 10% off these sessions through May and June.

I'm also going to do a portrait party here with this set: Friday, May 29th. These will be short sessions - I'm going to book them 30 minutes apart. No session fee, regular print prices. If you're interested, call me ASAP because I always book solid with portrait parties.

One wonders what she expected to see in the teapot, and what she found instead. :)
