Newborn + a cute little park

This sweet little guy was one week old when I got to meet him. I hadn't seen his family in awhile, and due to that thing where Facebook doesn't show you posts from very many of your friends, I didn't even know that they were expecting. What a fun surprise!

They have this cute little park across the street, and there was this one little spot of afternoon shade. It worked!

As usual I enjoyed using my Baby Backdroplet. So easy to put together and pack up. And I love that it's reduced the amount of stuff I take with me by half. More info here: http://brightlightcreate.com

Another beautiful baby girl

It's another newborn session here on my blog - I do take other types of photos but I'm an uneven blogger at best, and somehow the newborns keep ending up here. (I have one more to post soon.)

Anyway, this darling little girl is the first baby in her family and I was so happy to get to meet her! I actually took some pictures for her parents after their wedding a couple of years ago. And I took senior portraits for her dad... that was awhile ago in 2010 (making me feel old), and I actually did blog that 8 years ago (I was much better about blogging back then). Kind of fun to see.

She has such beautiful eyes - I was glad that she was awake for some of the pictures.

Here is, as always, my round backdrop stand in use. We piled a few different slipcovers on, which we used and peeled off one by one, and also added some of the family's blankets and quilts.

Both parents are very musically talented, so I have some high hopes for this little girl.

Her beautiful mom is from the Philippines, pretty recently, and amazes me with her language skills.

And one with her grandma, who I think is very happy to have her first grand-baby living right here.

It is such an honor to get to photograph new babies - thanks so much to this family for bringing her to me when she was just 14 days old.

Newborn sweetness

Oh, isn't this little girl the sweetest thing? I loved getting to work with her. Those cheeks!

I've been having fun with composite images lately. I told my daughter that I needed to borrow her tea set and she at first wasn't going to give it to me because she thought it was too fragile for the baby. We thought it was hilarious once we were both on the same page - the baby was not actually going to USE her tea set. Anyway, how cute is she here?

I always have to mention my round backdrop stand because honestly I like doing newborn portraits so much more now than I used to - it just makes it so simple. And I love the variety of slipcover colors I have now too - this lilac color is so soft.

This was as unwrapped as she was willing to get - sometimes it seems like no matter how well a baby is sleeping, unwrapping just makes them sad.

Baby's aunt both spun and knit this hat. Hearing this made me want to learn how to spin yarn - what a fun skill!

This slipcover is coffee colored on one side and sepia on the other.

Big Sister was so amazing - she was patient the whole time, even when the baby needed to stop and be soothed or eat. I was really impressed.

I am so happy to know this family! Thank you so much to them for bringing me their girls at this special time in their lives.

Newborn baby girl

My second newborn baby girl this month - she was amazing! She didn't really sleep but she did doze off quite a bit - and when she was awake she was so calm and chill.

I got to use my round backdrop stand again for her portraits. It makes my newborn sessions so simple.

I took her brother's newborn portraits a few years ago - he's one of my favorite 5 year olds and obviously he's grown up so much! (His parents look just the same though.)

I miss the flowers and the green so much that I decided to composite some into her session.
