Studio family portraits

And now for something different. :) This family was expecting to take pictures in the back yard, but on their way to my house, less than 1/2 a mile away, suddenly a huge windstorm arose! Everything was fine, I'd just raked the leaves off the grass & set up a chair, and by the time they arrived there was no using the back yard without blowing away. They very nicely agreed to use the backdrop that had been set up for antique portraits.

My kids also think it is important for you to know that the beautiful mom painted these shirts - they were so impressed, and so am I! (They know I'm not good at drawing, and they don't consider photography art, so I am officially NOT an artist to them. Their dad is, and they are, but not me.)

Anyway, don't they look so great? :) (Much better than they would have in the wind outside...)

I wish I looked this good in pictures with my kids! :)

More antique children's portraits

Some more antique portraits. I am loving these!

These two are some of the most beautiful children I know. They really got into the tea party setup - it was fun to watch. When we tried to bring one of them out of the background so we could get individual pictures, it was not fun without the tea set! Luckily the toy airplane and firetruck were also fun. :) This session was also full of such great expressions - it made it hard to narrow down my proofs (and I ended up with definitely more than I'd planned, something I'm trying to work on...) Thanks so much for coming - I love these & it was so great to see you again!

Antique portraits, darling little boy

I can't believe this is my second post in one day. I've been doing a ton of sessions & just cruised through a couple of them today. I still have 3 more to go, so if you're waiting.... I'm working on it! :)

This little guy could NOT have been cuter. He came, he played, he was so funny & cute, and in about 15 minutes I got way too many great shots. (Sorry, I know that can make it hard!) There are so many that I love from this session that I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite, but it might be the balloon-spike (below). We had finished & he was playing with balloons - good thing I kept shooting.

Thanks so much for bringing me your darling little boy! It was so nice to meet you all!

First birthday portraits (and a cheerleader too!)

I think birthday cake portraits are SO fun. I so wish that I'd thought of doing them with my kids! Luckily, there are other moms out there who also like the idea, so I get to have fun with other people's babies & their cakes. :)

This session started out neat & clean though. The new 1 year old, and her sister, were beautiful & really sweet together. The baby has a special pink rubber duckie, which I think is so cute.

The big sister is also a cheerleader, which makes for some really fun pictures!

The baby did not particularly enjoy wearing a tutu. :) But maybe that was because there was cake, just out of reach! Once she got the cake, she knew just what to do. She was perfect! She didn't mind being covered with frosting (what a pretty cake!) and used the chocolate duck topper as a spoon to scoop it up. Yum!

Sooooo much fun, thanks for coming girls! Happy birthday!

Twin princesses - portrait previews

I've been wanting to get these darling twins in front of my lens since I first saw them. :) I love them! It was so fun to be out with them - everyone that passed by was ooh-ing and aah-ing about how cute they are. I'm sure they get attention where ever they go. Anyway they were perfect, there are tons of really good pictures of them. Their parents were champion smile-coaxers (thanks!) This is a preview for them, because I'm really swamped in pictures & won't have the rest of them ready for awhile.... love these!

A lot of peek-a-boo, jingling, and squeaking.... totally worth it for this smile!

They kept sinking down in these chairs - they are so fun but not designed for 7 month olds :)

These took some dedication from their parents - it was too high for the girls to reach so their mom & dad are lying down in the dirt to hold them up high enough to get these rose petals (which yes, they ate).
