Here's a preview for this really nice family I met this week. Never have I used bubbles with greater success! :) I think half of their family pictures actually have the bubbles in the frame. Their cute little boy REALLY liked bubbles - in fact they'd brought their own, isn't that a good idea? He was a little slow to warm up to me until we got them out, and then it was all smiles. Love that!
The baby is 4 weeks old, which is usually too old for newborn-style pictures. But after a meal she settled right down and fell asleep in a basket - I was amazed! And she fell into a deep enough sleep where I could move her around, it was great. This was a great session - hope you enjoy the preview!

Family session giveaway reminder, and bows!
Wow, it's been a long time since I posted! I've been working like crazy on my website, orders, sessions, etc., and haven't been blogging. You'd think it was the end of November or something. :)
I've been getting questions about where I got my girls' beautiful bows. They're made by Chelsea Wagner of Lynney Bug's Bows and I very highly recommend them! They are so well done, really high quality. And what's best for me - she does sticky clippies so they will stay in my girls' fine fine hair. They love choosing every morning - sometimes they match, sometimes not. :) Anyway here are some pics, and if you're interested go to her website - great bows, great customer service.
I wanted to post a reminder about or family portraiture giveaway - nominate a friend or family member!

Maternity session preview
I've had a couple of maternity sessions lately and they have been so much fun! This beautiful mom is having a baby girl in the next few weeks (or hopefully sooner). I got to try some new things and I love how they turned out. And I'm excited - they are doing this session as part of my "Baby Expressions" plan, so I'll get to meet the newborn soon. Thanks for coming!

Baby preview
Last night was date night (we saw Avatar, wow, what an amazing visual show) - tonight is work night. :) Hopefully I'll get some sessions done in a very efficient fashion.
In the meantime, here's a preview for my great friend of her darling little baby girl. Four months old already - she has grown so much! Time goes fast for me when it's not even my baby. :)
I was hoping we'd get her "pirate look." Arrrrrr. My nephew has one of these too.

Another new little one
I have another blog post for later today, or tomorrow, that I'm SO excited about. But I'm also so excited to post this newborn session! You know how newborns come in waves. When I'm pregnant I like to be at the beginning of the newborn wave. It just feels better to be the one who gets to secretly feel so relieved to be done with pregnancy first! I know some people love pregnancy, but I'm not one of them.
Anyway I'm so happy to have gotten to meet this little guy! (That's another huge perk of being a baby photographer - getting to see the babies right away.) He was perfect. I love it when babies mostly sleep, mixed with a really good couple pictures with their eyes open. Congratulations to his family! I hope he's a good sleeper for you. (My constant wish for moms with babies.)
And watch for my next post - I need YOUR help! You can subscribe to my blog to receive updates - check the upper right corner to sign up.

More stripey jammies
I have a few more jammies pictures I can't resist posting, and I'm only supposed to post one image with my entry below. So here's a few more that I love. I don't take nearly as many pictures of my own kids as I used to. Something to work on this year! Taking out my camera is not only heavy :) but also seems like work - but I'll be kicking myself if I don't start doing a better job recording day-to-day stuff. I love these guys :) :)
Heart - Faces
This is the first time I've participated in the i heart faces contest - and I'm not sure I'm quite in compliance with this portrait. The theme is "Best Face Photo" and the picture has to have been taken during Dec 2009/Jan 2010. I took this of my munchkins on Dec. 30th. They had been wanting "stripey jammies pictures" ever since I took some of their friends in THEIR stripey jammies. (One set of our stripey jammies was missing and took quite awhile to find, mysteriously reappearing in a basket I know I once mentioned should be checked, and fortunately not left in Colorado last summer like we feared!)
So - the theme is not "Best FaceS Photo" - but how cute that their little faces are arranged in a heart shape? You should check http://iheartfaces.blogspot.com/ out - it's a great photography website!
This was taken with my Canon 5D mark II, using window light.

90 degrees and sunny
I'm behind blogging current sessions, but I was looking through old stuff from summer, and these are so fun that I have to post them instead. The older I get the more I realize that I am a SUMMER person. I don't like cold, especially in Albuquerque where we hardly ever get snow so the cold isn't even pretty. (The other seasons here are great! :) ) Looking at these pictures makes me really wish for warm weather....

Another sleepy newborn
I love newborn sessions. I think I say that every time. :) But one of the best parts of my job is coming home and seeing pictures like these!
This session was done at this little guy's house. I tend to do newborn sessions here, in my "studio" (living room), because the light is great and the props are ready at hand. But sometimes it's nice to go to the newborn. There is definitely an art to getting newborns to sleep for portraits... sometimes I just don't have any luck, but he slept really well for long enough. I love the little cocoon, and his grandma had crocheted him a really nice blanket too. I love anything that makes them look soft & snuggley. He is a fourth child (what a Mom he has!) and is so handsome!
