I got this guy going with jokes. And going. Unfortunately, my jokes involved dog poop (they have a dog who made a regrettable mistake earlier that week). The real deal smile is worth listening to quite a few dog poop jokes.
Sometimes the promise of a crazy picture is enough to get quite a few good smiles first.
Here was the first version of "put your arms around each other"... the sillies were out!
And here's the very shot I would love of my own kids (I love these guys too but I probably won't frame them on my wall).
This is just one idea of a fun location for winter family photography. I have lots of other great location ideas here, some of them that really work year-round. Give me a call if it's been a few years since you got some beautiful portraits of your kids -any time of year!
