A newborn I've been waiting for!

This little girl is really special - my good friend's daughter (her maternity portraits were taken only a short while before her daughter arrived - early!). I'm so happy to have been able to take newborn pictures of her! She is so beautiful.

So this sweet little girl never did really settle down into a good sleep - and we really tried. I'd had some high hopes for good sleepy newborn poses, but it wasn't to be. Her mom told me she'd never been awake for that long... that's how it seems to go with my newborn sessions, despite a nice warm room, a heating pad, Baby coming when she is full & should be tired... (Happily I have another one scheduled next week - I can try again!) But despite sleeping lightly I think her pictures turned out beautifully. Congratulations to my friend :)

Session previews from this weekend

It was a busy weekend! It's going to take me a little while to get galleries done for these sessions, so I wanted to post a preview right away. (Actually I always want to do that, but I'm not always so good about it...)

First is a baseball game - I think I'm getting the knack of shooting through chain-link fence :). It's tricky especially since my long lens is not a fast lens, nor is the autofocus very good through chain-link. But there are some really fun shots. He had a good base hit, and some good plays in the field too, while I was there. Fun!

Then it was off to the gardens for a couple more sessions. This is such a nice family, and their little boy is super-smart! He's just barely one year old, but he was saying all sorts of smart words. I've had early talkers & it's so much fun to be able to communicate with them even when they're so young. Anyway it was a really nice & fun session.

He was also super-good at peek-a-boo, one of my favorite things to do with this age for pictures!

And some darling Halloween costume pictures... he'd forgotten about the hat and left it on (I love that).

And one more family session. Such beautiful kids!

This one totally cracks me up. I guess the bench I was trying to have them kneel on is very uncomfortable on the knees. (And when I was thinking about that later, I think I remember someone else telling me that before - probably my kids...)

So cute! I'll get going on all these...

Football pics

I love this boy. My daughter is lucky (or maybe not!) that arranged marriages are no longer appropriate because I would totally be trying to set it up. So I went to his football practice and tried to stay out of their way - somewhat successfully - and I have to say, football to me looks like not much fun. Then afterwards when I was doing some quick portraits (in the very last bit of light), he was SO happy telling me what he loved about football. So I guess it is fun after all!

And I LOVE these sunset pictures - the light was gorgeous.

And by coincidence I'd watched his brothers a few days before - and when I babysit & have some free time on my hands I usually get the camera out... They are darling. And the baby looks sooooo much like his big brother!

A sweet baby boy

This little guy came to visit Albuquerque for his baptism, and stopped by here for some portraits. It was so fun to meet him and his very nice family! I love how in these pictures he looks SO soft & snuggley! His skin looks like I softened it in photoshop, but I didn't - it's the real deal! He did such a good job - some great happy smiles. My favorites are when he played peek-a-boo with his blanket. :) Thanks for coming!

I really liked these pictures with his grandma too.
