Sunset in the bosque - {Albuquerque family photography}

Sometimes everything just really comes together & works so perfectly! This great family happened to have one day where they were all going to be together. So we had ONE chance for pictures.... and the forecast was for rain! I think prayer saved the day because we decided to go for it anyway, and only had a couple drops of rain before it cleared up. Then we had the most beautiful sunset! I had earlier decided that I wanted to bring external flashes, and was so glad that I did, because the sunset pictures wouldn't have worked otherwise, and I love them the most.

This spot by the river is one of my favorite places to go - there are so many gorgeous big trees and if you do it right you can see the mountains in the background.


Then we hiked through the jungle.... (well, it felt like the jungle...) to a fun sand bar. The light was gorgeous.


















As the sun got lower, the sunset was so beautiful! And the clouds too. There are so many great pictures from this session. :) Thanks for a great evening!

Family reunion in the country - {Albuquerque family photography}

I was so happy to be asked to this family's reunion at their very beautiful home in Algodones. I'd never been there before - it's between reservations and very near the river. Gorgeous property, with fields and trees and gardens. Their family was so nice! I had met some of them before - last fall - and it was fun to see them again. (Always nice to have familiar faces!) A beautiful way to spend a Saturday afternoon - thanks so much for having me!

Family session preview - {Albuquerque family photography}

This long-overdue preview is for my nice friend. I meant to have her the whole DVD done by now, but instead it's just a preview.... :) BUT there are so many happy fun pictures in their session! We went to the Botanic Gardens and had a great time. Their boys were d-a-r-l-i-n-g, I loved them - they are really fun little personalities any time and were perfect that day. And as much as I am bugged by the gardens' extra tax on photography, it is always beautiful there. Thanks so much guys, you're NEXT on my list!

My new favorite portrait display - with a giveaway!

When I went to the photography seminar in Chicago in April, I was introduced to these amazing frames! I fell in love with them and immediately started planning my new portrait wall.

These are 10"x20" pictures, framed in a large display that fills one of my walls. The pictures themselves are coated with a protective linen textured finish. The great thing about this finish is that these frames don't need glass! There is never any glare on the pictures and they really pop!

The frames are completely customizable - any color, any combination of colors, and any size. I chose to have the images offset. The width of the frame is also up to you - wide or narrow, with a flat edge or rounded. You can get trim around the image if you like. I will have more examples of frame colors & patterns in the next couple of weeks. I'll post price information on my website in the next few days also.

Now - the giveaway! I love these so much that I'm sure you will too! I want one of you to have one, so I'm going to give one framed 11x14 print away, a $135 value. The details: you need to either book a session with me for this summer (meaning July or August), or have had a session within the last 3 months. A sweet new little boy - {Albuquerque newborn photographer}

This little guy isn't really quite a newborn - he was one month old when I took these pictures a week or so ago. He wasn't sleepy at all - it's really tricky to get babies older than about 2 weeks to sleep for newborn-style portraits, and he wasn't going for it. But he was nice & calm, and had such beautiful alert eyes! He & his mom had kind of a tough time for a couple of weeks, but hopefully they are all recovered and doing well. He certainly looks beautiful, doesn't he?







He faked us out a time or two by shutting his eyes when I pressed the shutter - you might think he's peacefully asleep... :) but he was perfectly happy even awake.

Maternity studio portraits - {Albuquerque maternity photography}

This maternity session was so simple and beautiful. I could hardly believe that she is at 35 weeks - since in my 2nd two pregnancies I was literally twice this size by that time :) - and she is so strikingly beautiful! She & her husband were really fun & nice - I'm really looking forward to working with them this next year with their baby.

I love outdoor maternity portraits with natural light, but for quite a few of my maternity clients it's more comfortable to do indoor studio-style portraits. I loved the lighting here - it's nice to have the control of studio lights too.

Birthday cake portraits {Albuquerque baby photography}

I can't believe a year has gone so quickly - this darling little girl is one of my "baby's first year" babies. She is just celebrating her first birthday, and her 12-month session went so well! I loved it. I love high-key portraits (which means the background is all white) - even though it's more work to set up & get right, I just love the look.








The hat did not stay on long. :) But I love this picture!

She liked the cake okay (though this is a funny face) - and liked using the candle as a frosting scoop.







But it ran out of fun before too long, and we got some funny meltdown pictures too. (This happens every time with cake pictures - come to think of it I'm not sure why!)

I think overall it was fun for her :) - it surely was for me! Thanks to her mom for bringing her this year. She will be getting a framed 10x20" storyboard with her favorite picture from each session - this comes with my baby plan. Hopefully I'll remember to post it because it's going to be a really fun one.
