Family portraits and fun at the park!

I was so happy and honored to get to take some pictures of this amazing family as they are in the process of moving to China.  I have loved getting to know them over the past few years, since their daughter was really small.  They are a ton of fun!

The evening we had a session scheduled, there was a huge storm.  I was really worried, because I don't think there was any time left in their schedule for pictures if we couldn't do it then.  But the storm mostly blew over and it all turned out great!

I tend to be at Mariposa Park a lot for soccer practices.  Sometimes I schedule sessions while I'm going to be there anyway - it sounds a little crazy, but it's actually a really nice place for pictures.  Even though it tends to be busy - in fact this night I think there were a ton of soccer, football, and baseball players running around everywhere - it's a big enough park that there are always some nice places to use.  I love the pond (from a distance - don't fall in!).

I love kids who think my jokes are funny! :)

They brought some of their favorite friends to come for pictures with them too.  I love the red shoes!

As a mother of a very dramatic daughter, I love some good drama in my pictures. :)

What could be more fun than rolling down a grassy hill?  I used to love that.

I told their sweet girl that my computer could shrink her down to be as small as a flower princess.

I hope she likes these.

If you're interested in more information about a family photography session, my website has lots of info about how I do sessions. Or you can call or email me if you have questions or would just like to chat about photo sessions.

I love doing sessions at parks like this one, but for lots of other session locations, see this blog page here.

Beautiful soft sleeping babies!

I have been meeting the most gorgeous newborns this summer! When I realized how many beautiful pictures haven't been posted, I knew what my next blog post would be.  Lots of pictures here from a few sessions.

I have a nervous habit of crocheting newborn hats.  Sometimes when the baby is sleeping soundly, it turns into a hat fashion show.

This is one of my favorites.  Isn't he just so sweet?

Newborn portraits are potentially so time-consuming that I don't always love to combine them with family portraits.  But at this session the baby slept especially well, and I had a few extra minutes to try to get some portraits with his four brothers and sisters.  I love this one!

Usually I will do any family portraits first, which is what I did with this session.  Here they had just walked in the door, the baby was sleeping so we put her on a chair, and I worked with her older sister.

Love. :)

Then while the baby got changed and fed, I had a few minutes to get some pictures of her sister's happy dance. (She got to go home after this.)

I love how clear and bright his eyes are in the next two pictures!  I like it when the baby is awake for some of the session.

If you are expecting a baby, and you're interested in newborn photography, I would love to chat with you about setting up a session!  I like to do these sessions before the baby is 10 days old, so it takes a little planning ahead.  Give me a call!

I have a bunch more newborn sessions, along with some info on my baby plan options, on this blog page. I offer four different options for baby photography collections. If you are interested for yourself, or if you have a friend or family member you might like to gift a collection to, I have an online magazine with more information that you might like to see. You can send me your email address below and I will email you a link right away.

Gorgeous country wedding!

I had the amazing honor this weekend of being the photographer for this amazing couple's wedding!  I loved getting to know them a little on such a special day - I don't think I've worked with a bride and groom that I liked better.  (Okay, I did take my brother's wedding pictures too...)  I'm posting a few images so they can have a sneak peak!

The wedding was at a ranch in McGaffey, NM.  I have never been there before, but it was gorgeous! The ceremony was in a field overlooking the hills, surrounded by the big New Mexico sky.  I knew it was going to be a photographer's dream.

Canvas giveaway!

Dear Albuquerque friends and clients, I have a giveaway for you.  I have done giveaways in the past, actually kind of in the distant past :), but nothing like this.  (I am not sure that I'm not a little crazy, but somehow my fingers keep typing... maybe it is the thunderstorm outside...)

I want to describe my favorite product that I offer, the 20"x30" gallery wrap canvas.  I love them.  I hang them in my house. They do not need a frame. There is no glass to break. They look sophisticated and simple. They make me happy and I love to see them in my living room.  I love that I hang artwork of my family instead of hanging living room art. (Don Quixote print in my living room - I'm not talking about you.  I do like you.)  I get a little teary when I see older canvases from when my kids were younger.

But what I want to know is - how does a 20x30 canvas make YOU feel?  How does it make your life better to have a 20x30 gallery wrap canvas?  I am asking you to shoot me your best description of the answer to those questions.  Then I will pick my favorite answer, and give that person a 20x30" canvas.  For real. (As my daughter would say.)  That is a $350 value.

You can comment on this blog post, or you can comment on my facebook page.  On August 20th I will pick my favorite answer.

There are a few details, but I don't think they will bother you.
  • You do not need to be a current client - anyone who can get to me for a session is eligible.  (Albuquerque area.)
  • You do not need to currently own a 20x30" canvas.  Just imagine how you would feel about it if you did.
  • The canvas will come from a new session to be done sometime between now and February 29, 2013.  Your session will have my normal minimum purchase, but in addition to your order you will receive a large, gorgeous, wall portrait canvas.  To me that would mean - grandparents are getting some nice portraits for Christmas this year!
  • Albuquerque family photography
  • If you want to come and see my canvas, so you can see what I'm talking about, I'd love to have you!  Just give me a call & come over.
  • I will ask the winner to give me a review of the canvas and also a picture of it hanging in your home (I'll come take the picture if you want!).

Feel free to email me if you have any questions.  Thank you!
Pam

Can you get newborn portraits if your baby is older than 2 weeks? Sometimes!

I have been having such a hard time posting sessions lately! I have a bunch of really sweet newborns that I've worked with lately, and I'm just a little sad that they haven't appeared on my blog.  Here is one of the latest.  He is actually not really a newborn - he was one month old, and usually I recommend newborn photography be done by the time babies are 10 days old.  I warned her mom, probably way too many times, that he probably would not sleep for pictures.  And then he slept so well!  He was amazing.  (This is not typical, FYI.)  He didn't sleep soundly enough to pose  him very much, but we got some really sweet images and I was really happy.

He kept sleep-smiling, but he was so quick!  I had a hard time catching them.

His mom brought some really cute initials - what a good idea!

When his eyes were open at the end, that's when he really looked like a big boy :) - he can make eye contact and his eyes are so sharp and clear!  An advantage of doing pictures a little later I guess!

Thanks so much to his really nice mom - I loved getting to meet you both!

I have a bunch more newborn sessions, along with some info on my baby plan options, on this blog page - check it out!
