I love photography. I love senior photography especially, and this session was amazing! This senior had the b.e.s.t idea - she wanted senior portraits in the snow! We started waiting for snow sometime in the beginning of December, but if you live here, you know that we never really got any snow. (Actually that's not true, it did snow enough once, the week before Christmas when my family had the stomach flu, but I just couldn't get myself to set up a session that day...) Anyway, when it became clear that we weren't going to get a good chance for snow, we set up a day to drive to the back side of the mountains and had a blast wandering around the park in the snow.
It actually wasn't too cold - we were glad we waited until the end of February because it was mostly pretty mild. And the light was so beautiful! Snow is good for that.
We did sink into the snow pretty good. :) When we had the viewing session we were laughing about how her feet did not show at all for a lot of these - it didn't matter what shoes she had on.
I loved the scarf - I really like the color splash here.
We got her pretty freezing when she sat down in the snow (she was such a good sport). Here her dad was throwing snowballs at her. (Reminds me of how I do our family portraits... we throw stuff...)
Sometimes the sun on the leaves made the background look like fall. It was so beautiful!
I loved getting to meet her and her family - both times I have been to the East Mountains for senior portraits it has been with the nicest people! I really enjoyed getting to spend a little time with them - thanks so much!

Lifestyle photography (Albuquerque)
I had the huge pleasure of meeting this family at their home for a family photo session. I love to do sessions at clients' homes because it's the best way to really capture their life. (Thus - lifestyle photography!) They have this darling baby girl, who was perfectly happy and so easy to get smiles from. We started with some family pictures together, and some of the baby by herself, easy and fun.
So important to get to see those first teeth! :)
Then I asked them to play with the baby, whatever they enjoy doing together. That's when it started to get really fun. This is one of my favorites. :)
I love the baby with the guitar. We used to let my first baby play with my husband's guitar (I'm not sure we kept doing that with subsequent babies as much...).
More baby playtime:
They live in the foothills with this gorgeous view. We had to do some outside too.
I kept thinking the baby would get tired and need to be done, but she just stayed happy. It's always such a special experience for me to get to spend time with families like this! Thanks so much to them for sharing their home and their Saturday with me!
If you're interested in more information about a family photography session, my website has lots of info about how I do sessions. Or you can call or email me if you have questions or would just like to chat about photo sessions.

Nine months old - {Albuquerque baby photography}
Happy Valentine's day! I have the perfect session to blog for today! This little guy just came for his 9 month session.
At his first 2 sessions we had a really easy time getting these gorgeous big smiles. But this time we had to work a little! I have to say, this is really normal - babies sometimes need some time to warm up and get comfortable. We had a bunch of dinosaurs, which matched his cute little outfit, and funnily enough he had just about zero interest in them. He's a great crawler, and was more interested in crawling away than in playing. (I did get a couple - luckily he was patient about being put back in the dino pile after he crawled out of it.)
I had this idea of doing an old-fashioned kind of set (now I really want a big map! I'm going to go find one.) When we handed him the airplane, I learned that driving vehicles is totally instinctive for boys. I don't know, maybe he drives toy cars around all the time at home, but he's pretty young for it... anyway he got the airplane and immediately drove it around on the ground. I thought it was totally funny. And I love this serious picture.
Actually I'm doing this post out of order, but I had to put the Valentine's background first. We got to those pictures after the airplane & dinos, and we were so happy that he thought my squeaky ball (which we got out because he was NOT going to sit on that chair) was super funny. He had a great cousin who had come along to help make him smile, and she was perfect! She got him laughing, and my last 20 frames are all of him cracking up. So... sometimes babies need a little time! Bringing extra help can be great. Sometimes we just keep trying different things until they work. And thanks so much to his really nice mom - I love working with your family!
I have a bunch more baby photography, along with some info on my baby plan options, on this blog page - check it out!
I offer four different options for baby photography collections. If you are interested for yourself, or if you have a friend or family member you might like to gift a collection to, I have an online magazine with more information that you might like to see. You can send me your email address below and I will email you a link right away.
